I first drew a very faint heart shape on the paper.
I painted several different flower shapes. Notice how imperfect they are but that’s what makes them special.
Continue filling with flowers and add some branches and leaves.
More leaves and a few little buds.
Erase the pencil lines and you’re done.
The moral of the story is to have fun and don’t worry about making it perfect but try to stay within the shape of the heart.

Cut some petals from tissue or crepe paper…Here is my favourite crepe paper to use.
If you use crepe paper you can now cup them…
Pinch and glue them all together at the bottom in a little bunch…
Glue flowers to the printable and add a few touches of watercolor for more interest…

Watercolor Paper Magnolia Flower Tutorial
Go hands-on with a tutorial and a matching printable for magnolia flowers, blending art and craft in one project.
1. Take some very diluted pink paint and draw a petal shape with a brush; these will be the inside petals
2. While paint is still wet, take some undiluted paint and dab at the bottom of the petal
3. Tilt paper away from you, allowing the paint to run downwards
4. You should have a nice bleed between the lighter pink and the darker pink
5. Continue this process until you have five petals
6. Follow steps 1-3, but this time, add a little bit of green at the bottom followed by some brown as shown; these will be the outside petals
7. Continue this process until you have 5 petals; set aside to dry
8. While petals are drying, form the center of the flower by rolling a piece of crepe paper and taping at the bottom
9. Paint with watercolor and allow to dry
10. Cut petals
11. Fold inside petals (pink) in the middle as shown
12. Gently fold outside petals outwards as shown
13. Pinch bottom of the outside petals; set aside
14. Paint some of the leftover watercolor paper with green paint; set aside to dry
15. Cut small strips as shown
16. Hot glue pink petals around stamen three at a time
17. Continue gluing pink petals, alternating and filling gaps
18. Glue outside petals in similar manner until all petals are glued
19. Glue green leaves at the bottom of the flower
20. Glue flowers onto branch
This is such a fun and easy technique, but if you’re not feeling brave enough, I have prepared the petals for you to download HERE. Just make sure they are printed on thick paper.

Free Watercolor Backgrounds and a Picmonkey Tutorial
Looking to DIY your own print? Some sites offer free watercolor backgrounds, plus editing tips on tools like Picmonkey.
After downloading and saving your free watercolor background, import it onto Picmonkey and adjust the exposure as you wish. You can change the brightness, highlights, shadows and contrast.
Once you are happy with it , click ‘Apply’.
Decide on the font you wish to use. I find that with this type of background, bolder fonts work better. Above I show you the various fonts and their names for your reference.
Once you have chosen your font. Click ‘add font’ and write out your message. You can now change the color of your font to white. You can also adjust the blend modes to make the letters stand out a little more.

Draw Your Own Ceramic Bunny Mug (Free Printables)
Pair creative fun with function. Print templates for kids to color, then use on custom ceramics or photo projects.
1. Print images below (you might have to enlarge or reduce according to size of mug)
2. Cut out image of choice
3. Rub the back of the image with dark lead pencil. I used charcoal.
4. Position image onto mug and tape it in place.
5. With a pencil, trace along the image, lifting the paper from time to time to assure that it’s being transferred onto mug.
6. Remove paper and you should have a carbon copy of the image on your mug.
7. Retrace with Sharpie
8. Bake in oven for 30 minutes at 350C and allow to cool in oven.
NOTE: After using this method to cure the mugs, I have noticed that the image eventually erases or chips away.
I did a little research and it seems like there is a different type of Sharpie, made specifically for painting on ceramic surfaces. Read about here.
